Lessons from Prospect Avenue

There is a place in town called Prospect Avenue. For those of you reading this that aren’t from around here, that’s the “wrong side of the tracks.” There’s a group that works there called Abundant Life and some of the people that work for that group go to my church. One of the guys today prayed for the shootings that had been occurring there and his emotion really got me thinking. Actually, all of this morning, sitting in church, I’d been thinking. I’m really passive when I’m there. I say the words, but very rarely do I think about what I’m saying, much less put much emotion into it. But this guy…he was nearly crying as he prayed for the people in his community. What would it be like if we all loved like that?
