At the beginning of the week, we had a lot of rain (I’ve heard Florida got more than we did, but it was an overwhelming amount of water anyway). Places that are usually dry were wet and running (there’s usually water coming out at a trickle about where the “fall” is landing in this picture).
The rain came down so hard that all the rye I was so excited about got knocked over. I’m hopeful that it can be salvaged, but I haven’t been to town in a few days to check on it. As far as I can tell, it’s only a couple of weeks from when I was planning to cut it, so I’m not worried about the end of the crop (it was “only” a cover crop and survived the majority of my planned lifespan for it). I’m a little worried about regrowth, but I can just treat it like a weed at that point, so it’s not a huge deal. It’s just a little sad to see all those tall stalks smashed into the ground.
